Thorin knew he had many things he needed to do, things he needed to get ready and prepare. He was King Under The Mountain now, Erebor reclaimed for his people. The battle had ended less than a fortnight before, but they were still making the kingdom ready for the dwarves. Fili and Kili had awoken and were on the mend. The she-elf spending all her time at Kili's side while the others took turns looking after Fili and Bilbo.

The Hobbit still hadn't awoken from his grievous and Thorin was genuinely worried that he might never. He had tried to speak to him before the loss of blood had caused the hobbit to pass out, but he hadn't had the chance. It was too late.

He straightened up a bit from the throne as a Ori and Dwalin approached, watching them and smiling, though it didn't quite reach his eyes. "Thorin, the celebration plans are almost finished. We just wanted to go over some of these things with you..." Ori started and he held up a hand, motioning him closer. "Of course. Let me see." He said as his smile got a bit wider, though it still had the vague hint of sadness. "Has he stirred yet?" He asked suddenly, looking between the two of them hopefully.

Ori and Dwalin exchanged a look that already said they didn't have good news to convey. Dwalin is the one to of course convey, "I'm sorry, Thorin, but..."

"Indeed, he has!" The booming voice is coming from Gandalf, who enters at the end of the hall. "Our burglar is awake. He's asking for you, Thorin." The wizard smiles in a pleased way, knowing that Thorin will put aside his celebration plans for this.

He knew what the look meant and he slumped a bit in the throne before Gandalf burst in and declared that Bilbo had indeed woke up. He stood, a smile spreading across his face, the first real smile the others had likely seen from him in a good while.

"Of course." He said, stepping down from the throne and looking apologetically at the other two dwarves. "Ori, Dwalin, you know what to do for the celebration. What needs to be prepared. Please, see to it for me while I visit with Master Baggins." He said before brushing past them quickly.

He ran all the way to the healers quarters, bursting through the door. "So it is true. You have woken." He said as he made his way over to the other's bedside. "How are you feeling?"

Gandalf and the other two dwarves watch with knowing smiles as Thorin leaves the throne room in a hurry to go to the healers and check on Bilbo. They've all been worried, of course. Gandalf has been watching over Bilbo, feeling responsible for him, but he believed Bilbo would pull through. Now that he's awoken, the most difficult part has passed.

Bilbo is lying with his head propped on some pillows. When Thorin walks in, his eyes light up with happiness and relief. "Thorin. You're alright." All that happened and Bilbo was worried about him. "I thought maybe..." He was stabbed by the pale orc. Did what he could to protect Thorin. But what about after? Bilbo had terrible dreams of what might've become of the dwarf.

"Gandalf wouldn't even tell me. Wizards. I'll never understand them." Guess Gandalf wanted Bilbo to see Thorin with his own eyes. "What happened to Azog?"

"After everything...after the way I treated you and still you worry for me." He said, shaking his head as he settled next to the bed. He hesitated but a moment before taking Bilbo's hand and giving it a gentle squeeze.

"Azog is dead. I was able to defeat him." He pulled his shirt up, showing a very faint scar on his side. "This is the worst I got from him. You though...we all thought you were going to die." He said the words softly, squeezing his hand again as if checking to see that the other was real.

"I thought I was going to lose you..." He said before blushing and clearing his throat. "The company wouldn't have known what to do without you." He said, looking down suddenly.

"That wasn't you, Thorin. It was the sickness." But Bilbo knew Thorin was stronger than that. He was able to overcome it.

He looks to his hand as it's taken and squeezes Thorin's hand in return. When Thorin shows his scar, Bilbo looks, but blushes a moment later and glances away. "I thought I was going to die. It's such a relief that I haven't." He smiles faintly, lifting his own spirits. "There would be far too much I would miss." And he can't stop looking at Thorin as he says that.

"I'm just so glad you're alright and it's over." Bilbo knows everything is going to be fine.

"But it was me, Bilbo. At least partly. Yes the gold sickness had taken over my mind...had made me desperate to keep every bit of the treasure for myself, the Arkenstone as well...." He said, looking down.

"When I found out you had given the Arkenstone to them...I was so angry. I felt so betrayed. That was me. I truly wanted to hurt you because you had hurt me." He admitted, brushing his fingers through his hair slowly before sighing quietly.

"I was wrong and because of it...you were hurt. If I had only listened to you before then things would have been vastly different."

"Don't blame yourself, Thorin. I don't. I could never." As rough and obstinate as Thorin can be sometimes, Bilbo finds it difficult to find faults in him.

"But now is a time for celebration. You'll be king, as is right. I'll bet dwarves throw very large parties."

"When we do throw a party...well, it is a large celebration." He said with a smile, tilting his head and brushing his fingers over Bilbo's hand. "You should be well enough to attend once it is all ready."

He tilted his head a bit, his smile fond as he looked at Bilbo. "I know...you want to go home soon, but I would hope you could stay just a little longer. We would all miss you greatly...."

"I wouldn't miss it, Thorin." Not the celebration that will announce Thorin's official coronation as king. Not that it was necessary. It was just tradition, but Bilbo thought it a good tradition.

"Yes, well.." He does miss home a great deal. However, were he to leave, he can't help but consider how much he would miss Thorin. The others, too, but none have had the impact on him that Thorin has.

"It is a very long journey back. I suppose I could stay awhile longer. I didn't get to see all of Erebor." Just the parts he ran through while trying to avoid being killed by Smaug. "Perhaps you could give me the official tour."

"Of course. I would give you the full tour myself, Bilbo. No one else could do it justice." He teased, winking a bit at him before chuckling. "You just have to get well enough to get out of this bed first." He said softly, reaching out and squeezing his hand.

"Would it be alright if I joined you for dinner tonight?" He asked quietly, tilting his head to look up at the hobbit.

"A tour from the king of Erebor." Bilbo sounds a little in awe of the idea, but also appreciative, since Thorin is more than just a king. He's a friend.

As for dinner, that makes the hobbit smile. "Nothing would please me more."

"A tour from a friend. I do hope you see me as more than just some wretched king." He said jokingly, still holding Bilbo's hand in his own and laughing.

"Then it is settled. I will have them bring dinner here for the two of us. I can tell you everything that has happened since the battle ended. All the goings on and the rebuilding. I know you'll want to hear about Bard and the people of Laketown. Though Laketown is no more." He said, shaking his head a bit.

"Of course, Thorin, but you're hardly wretched." Bilbo thinks the world of him.

Indeed, Bilbo did want to hear about everything that's happened and how the people are doing.

He smiled fondly at the other, touching his hand lightly before he started speaking, letting him know how everyone fared. He told him how they were rebuilding the town of Dale instead of going back to Laketown.

How they had made Bard the official Mayor and how they were celebrating his take down of Smaug, how he rallied everyone together to help the armies once they descended on Dale as well, how he kept everyone safe. They had opened trade between Erebor and the small city of men, agreeing to work between them always. Same with the elves of Mirkwood. No longer would Thorin allow gold sickness to rule over him.

He told Bilbo how his nephews were and how the others were. How Gandalf was. It was all going well.
